Week # 5 Healthy Eating and Working Out

Wow! I have lost ~ are you ready ~ .2 What is that anyway? A friend said it was a 1/4 of a stick of butter. I thought I had done really well this week. Apparently not!!! I have NOT had chocolate and I have NOT pigged out. So what did I do wrong!!! I am HUNGRY!! So I have a plan now ~ I am going to (should have been doing the whole time) write down everything I eat and I am going to count my points. I am also going to increase my water intake (should have been doing the whole time).

Working Out~~~~~~ ZERO ~~~~~ I have to get back to using my Wii!!

Wish me luck!! I have never had this much trouble losing weight!!

I'm really struggling too. Of course the scallops cooked in butter, and lasagna I had over the weekend doesn't help.

Exercise is the key I find. If you're not movin' your not losin'.

I couldn't even get on the scale this morning - after yesterday's superbowl eating frenzy.

luck! water is a good thing...keep at it!

Oh, honey...I don't mean to laugh, but the way you put it...hysterical. Remember there is a plateau and then when you reach the edge, you fall down to the next plateau...keep the faith!

I heard you have to eat plenty calories to be able to burn the fat???? I don't know if that's true but it sounds good!

Counting points? Are you doing Weight Watchers?

.2 means you didn't gain anything. You're still headed in the right direction. That's the important thing.

Yes, it's so hard. I've found that to lose weight you have it want it badly enough. When you do, you'll lose it.

You can share all your hard earned information with us OR you can become a millionaire by writing a book. We would pay to know, seriously.

You look good as you are.

don't feel bad, sometimes you just hit a plateau. Look at it this way, at least you didn't gain weight.

It also depends on how much you have to lose. If it's a lot, then you see big losses, and if it's not very much (like five to ten pounds), it takes forever to come off. I've got five to seven and I need to stay hungry all the time to lose it. But not gaining is a plus!

Matty said...

Yes, what Lee said. It goes in phases. You just have to be patient with it.

ahhh! The dreaded scale watching. You will get it!

Jeanie said...

Kudos to you for not gaining, at least I always see that as a good thing for me. If you keep it up you will see results, but it sure is no fun, huh? I'm having trouble with the exercising since the first of the year. I need a kick in the pants.

Any loss is a good loss. Sounds to me like the scales are going in the right direction. Don't get discouraged!

don't worry at all! just keep going, you'll peek then stay straight line for a bit and then you'll drop some weight again. It's just a natural cycle. Although annoying its just making sure you are loosing at a consistent rate ;)

First things first...I have this great website I use to track all of my food intake and my exercising. Here is the website... http://www.my-calorie-counter.com/. It is free to sign up and it has saved me more than once. I knew if I had to put it in, I wasn't going to overdo. You can also track your weight and your measurements. I highly recommend this because there have been weeks that I have lost 2 inches off my waist and hips but did not lose a pound. Second, you have to remember that muscle weighs more than fat. The more you work out the more muscle you gain. Muscle will burn calories even if you are just sitting there, so they are very beneficial to weight loss. You have to remember though that you might not lose at first bacause of the fact that muscle weighs more than fat. Good luck!

I really think it's just age, sister. You look slender in your picture, and I'm willing to bet this is the first time you've ever struggled with your weight. It's hard for formerly skinny people to deal with the extra pounds that come with the slower metabolism that results from age. If you have your health, be thankful. You still have your good looks, so be super grateful--that's a bonus!

Don't beat yourself up, you didn't put on anything. You can be proud that you are actually doing something. Isn't it so hard and frustrating this weight loss game. Keep it up you will succeed.

Hang in their Gayle. I find that losing weight gets harder for me since I became a Gramme! But also, it takes a little while to build up the momentum. Then it's easier.

Thanks for your excellent question on my blog. It was such a good question that I decided to devote a blog post to it. I'll be posting it tomorrow (Wednesday). Hugs.

Never mind, honey. It's just a plateau. Keep inching your way along it and the plummet will be inevitable.

You're not the only one in this boat. However, I am finding that if I keep at it they do start coming off. Keep it up you can do it!

I HATE it when we're good but we don't lose. They blame hormones for this. But, sounds to me like you are on the right track! Don't get discouraged.

i could have written that post. mine is post-baby weight but now the 'baby' is nearly 18 mths old. it's a struggle we all face.

thanks for visiting and following me at the crib!

the plateau is such a terrible phase...i hardly weigh myself anymore. it can be such a downer!

I tried drinking as much water as I could hold to see if it reduces my hunger, not really but I spent a long time peeing my brains out!

Definitely start exercising again. That will help. I am a HUGE believer in writing down every single thing you eat. Dont forget to measure your portions with meausring cups and spoons too!

That is balanced out by the times you find you lost weight when you weren't even trying!

Any time you don't gain is a win. It's not easy is it? so much temptation. Thanks for visiting my blog and I will look to you for encouragement on the weight loss journey:)

Gayle - Are you doing Weight Watchers? I should have read your previous posts. I'm sure you probably mentioned it. In my experience, counting points and tracking does work! I am currently on Weight Watchers and have lost 51pounds so far! Only have about 7-8 to go! It really does work!! Keep the faith!!!

At least you didn't gain anything. I haven't exercised all week. I'm getting back on the wagon Monday.

Get a walking partner or an i-pod or MP3 player (very cheap).
Put on your sneakers, step out onto the front porch, put one foot in front of the other and see how far you get. :) It may be just to the corner and back, but if you do it every other day or so, you'll find yourself wanting to go just a little farther. You'll want to challenge yourself.
And if you don't lose a pound, you won't care because you'll feel good from your adrenalin and endorphins (I guess those are the right hormones) pumping you up!
Keep us informed! We're cheering for you!

The wii sounds fun. i do Leslie Sansome VCR tapes. I just got one from ebay (used) 3 miles now.. (before was doing the 1 or 2 miles ones).. and I just won another one..walking for abs. (not sure what that will be).

But the Wii sounds fun..

Hugs.

Your grandson is adorable.

The one thing that helped me lose weight was to add more fruits and veggies to my diet. When I tracked what I ate, I couldn't believe how little of the green stuff I actually ate! Fills you up too! :)

I'm ready to get back on track this week. My main goal this week is to make sure I drink more water. Fitness-wise I'm hoping to walk on the treadmill while I watch the Olympics. I'll pretend I'm skiing!

Wish I knew the mojo secret. If you find it, you'll be a rich woman!

Trina said...

Yes. You have to write everything down. I actually tracked consistently last week and I found out that I ate more than I thought I did. I went over my points everyday!!!! Everyday!!! I know I need to work on tracking my points more consistently but it's a lot of work.
