Do you ever feel like you are losing your mind? Well, lately I do. I have never had a good memory for names and it is getting worse!!! Now I am not remembering other things.
Also, I can't seem to make the simplest decision!!! It is driving me crazy.
Where do I put this picture? What do I do with this? What do I do first? Just do something I say to myself!! Look at your list!! I have tons of stuff on it but don't know where to start!!
I can't make a decision!!!!!!
It really hit home when just today...........I can't decide if I should keep my mom's ironing board that has to be at least 50 years old or the ironing board that I got from my husband's friend that has to be around 20 years old. I DON'T NEED TWO. I rarely use one!!!
Please tell me that someone out there is having the same problems I am.
Memory!!! Decisions!!!

Happens to me all the time.
Flip a coin regarding the Ironing Boards.
Gayle, I am your woman. I have been working on decluttering, I managed to get rid of a rolling pin this morning that I have had for twenty years. I have never made a pie or anything with it, and I sat here saying well it is marble I should keep it...I can hardly lift it. Then I went to put it in the goodwill box, only to find I had put it back in the cupboard. and what did you say your name was.....
maybe it is the heat or we are too busy. all the best my friend, you are not alone.
I does happen to me something like every damn day. I will be talking about something and I gonna go get some water but first I have to go to the bathroom then...what was the queston?
Oh Gayle, maybe it's just time to go outside and enjoy the sunshine. One ironing board or two really doesn't matter much in the big scheme of things :)
Gayle, yep, I do feel like I'm losing my mind. I even worried wondering if dementia is starting to set in. But I think our memory does decrease with age and if we are under stress, not getting enough sleep (which I determined is what is happening here with me since I have at least a night or two a week where it is very difficult to sleep) and just the stress of life these days with the uncertainty of the economy, natural disasters happening all over, the hot weather, etc.
totally understand. I agree, flip the coin for the ironing board or which one has more sentimental value?
betty
I loose my mind (and many other things) every day! And I stop talking in the middle of sentence just because i can't remember the next word. So frustrating!
I've been on this wagon a while...it's age, it's health, the way it is, it's, it's, it's. I've just concluded it is the ride we are on and instead of freating about, laugh at it, accpet it and enjoy the ride. I even tell people, thanks for the information but I will probably forget it in about ten minutes, Ha, ha.
If I'm talking about something and someone interrupts me....most of the time I can't remember what I was talking about to continue with it after the inconsiderate interruption is over. I am terrified of losing my memory and do mind exercises all the time. They say if you do that (keep your brain active) then you shouldn't have the problem. My brain should look like a body builder considering the exercises I put it through. LOL As far as forgetting where you put stuff or unable to make a snap decision, it sounds like you may be stressed out over something and its pushing you to the limit. We all have been there. So take a deep breath, calm down and remember Scarlett's famous words: I'll think about that tomorrow....tomorrow is another day. Big hugs!
I get up and walk into the kitchen on a regular basis to do something or get something and forget in the 20 seconds it took me to get there what I went in there for! It hate that! Drives me bonkers!
Getting on in years is a b*#@&! My mind is amazingly...slow. I can't remember anything anymore. Ask my daughters. As for the ironing boards, forget sentiment. Choose the one that is the easiest to get out and put up. That way you'll be more likely to use it. (Love Bryson's train picture!(
I am a horrid decision maker. I will bounce it around forever before I make up my mind.
Those darn lists with tons of things on them that need to be done. There's so many I don't know where to start so instead I do nothing. I'm not good at decisions at all.
smiles. sounds like my wife...i tend to let it fly...which gets me into trouble. smiles.
Gayle you are definitely not alone with these afflictions. Believe me. I've pretty much convinced myself that I've got dementia and possibly a sudden onset of adult ADD.
I am much older than you are, and I forget things but I either write a list or it doesn't get done. Oh well. I don't own an ironing board but I know you probably like the one that was your mom's. Even if you don't use it often, you have one more thing of hers.
I forget the things that need remembering and remember the useless stuff!
I was going to say something really good....but now I've forgotten what it was. So, I'd say the answer is yes, there are others, including me, who are having the same problem you are.
Get rid of your list and just enjoy life. Sleep is important for memory. I say this all in love, staying up Blogging and on FB instead of getting enough sleep is not good for anyone. As far as Ed's or your mom's choose your moms to keep, or just keep both and make no decision at all. I love you!
Count me in on the bad memory-- I blame part of it on menopause and part of it on (gulp) aging. I even had a huge battery of tests to check my memory and was told I was perfectly fine-- So I stopped worry about it.... and attach a "Clapper" to key, and the likes.
Hang in there,
jj
Oh I am with you on that. Especially this week, must be the effects of my operation I think.
Sorry to say, it happens to many, or most, or all of us. We've overloaded our brains and complicated our lives, so even at our best, our brains are overtaxed. Then we add any combination of stress, disrupted sleep patterns, depression, lack of exercise, and/or eating badly, and it gets worse. Bryson's Momma has some great advice...for me, anyway...I've been staying up way too late in blogland! Hard to stop, though.
You're not alone. I have the hardest time making simple decisions. Especially at the nursery the other day - too many plants to choose from!
I'm in the process of getting rid of it all. Things that once had meaning, are going.
Try making "one" decision when you're happy, or when you have company so that you can get help and an opinion.
Oh you are not alone.. decisions are hard to make, why, I wish I knew!!
Oh honey, can we talk? I can SO RELATE! There are many days I feel like I am stuck in thick mud because I can't prioritize and can't make decisions. Some days, my brain is just fried or feels like it is full of cotton candy! YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
It happens, but the more you worry about it the worse it will be. Just try to NOT think about it. If you can't make a decision right away on something...then don't. It doesn't really matter does it. Be kind to yourself. :)
Always been that way. Given up trying to improve, instead working on trying not to care! I figure I need to just get used to calling people the wrong names and putting things in the wrong places and get on with life.
Oh yeah. I have the same problem! I drive myself crazy sometimes!! Wait...what was the discussion here? What are we talking about? Did someone just offer me a cookie? OH! That was me? I have to go now....
You are not alone!
I think of something I really must do... head off to do it... then half way there I forget what I am doing there! DOH
Welcome to the world of senior moments! Just laugh and roll with it...
I figure as long as no one is lying bloody on the floor, no decision is all that important. It probably won't matter in 10 years anyway. When a decision is needed right now, you will make it. Otherwise, just don't sweat the small stuff. Life's too short!!
Nothing to add to this discussion. It has all been discussed and the fact that my mind is long gone won't help a bit:)
Don't worry about it.
Heh, that happens to me all the time. I think. What were we talking about?
Raising my hand
All the time, my friend. I just forgot to ..uh..I forgot.
xoRobyn
Hi Gayle. I have days like you too. I think it is all part of the aging process. But if you are truly concerned about it, you should speak with your dr. or maybe do some internet research.
I don't like to admit that I have "senior moments" at the age of 42. My mom contributes my forgetfulness to "peri-menopause". Yikes.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
I just wanted to let you know I left you a versatile award on my website. Your an awesome lady! I hope you will stop by and pick it up when you get a chance ;-)
I hope your doing well!

I forget things all the time too! And I never was very good with decision making.
I do that kind of stuff all the time!!
Lately I cant seem to decide what to make for dinner. So I end up making nothing! lol
When my husband gets home from work I tell him "Well, I thought about making dinner." I dont think he appreciates it!
You are not alone. Mine gets the worst when I haven't gotten enough sleep. Then I can't remember the name of simple things...like "cup" and "pencil"...
Which ironing board occupies the least amount of space?
Lol, I start, stop, forget, and then I........what was I saying?
We're women, our brains can't keep up with everything we're in charge of all of the time!
I love the princess cake... happy birthday PRINCESS. Keep the 50 year old board.. that is truly an antique.. !!!
Girlfriend, you're preaching to the choir. If not for roaming from room to room wondering why the hell I came in there in the first place I wouldn't get any exercise at all. ;)
