Our last Christmas celebration was with my brother Greg. He spent a few days with Rusty, Meredith, Ally and Colby and Christmas Eve and part of Christmas Day. Gerald and Rusty always meet half way to exchange Greg. He went with us to Sheila's. Then after we got home Christmas Day we gave him presents from us, the girls and what Santa brought him to our house. He gave us the presents he bought and paid for with his own money. I got slipper socks and pot holders and Gerald got candy. He also bought for Rusty's family and my girls' families. Greg has Special Needs...oh how I love that instead of what "people" used to say. Truth be told he is extremely smart in so many ways...he has a much better memory than I do and things that he does that some people find "odd" well .......I do them too and so do a lot of other people I know.

Gayle, that is a wonderful celebration and yes, we all have odd behavior. Otherwise, our blogs would be boring Lol!
Gayle, you really do lots of gathering and celebrating! And we learn a lot from special needs people, don't we?
What a lovely brother you have!
Special needs for a special person who is so loved. His light shows in the photos. I liked the post you did recently about his birthday party.

Sounds like a great holiday! Have a wonderful New Year! Look forward to blogging with you in 2010!
That is sweet. Glad you enjoyed your holidays!
Special Needs is so much more accurate than other labels. Stephen Hawking for example--he needs help with nearly everything except intelligence and reasoning.
One thing I find special about "Special Needs" people is their love and caring for others!
That is very special indeed.
Love the smile on his face!
I thought I was already following you! It's been hectic with Christmas, Kelly coming home and all. Hope to become fast friends!!
looks like everyone had a wonderful time! great pics!
Most of the times I find that people who have special needs are usually happier than the rest of us. It looks like he had a great Christmas.
I am a Special Ed Secretary and even though I don't work with the kids, I work with the teachers who do. My son and his wife are both Special Ed teachers and they love what they do. The kids they have taught over the years are wonderful. I have met many of them and I'll tell you....they are special in more ways than anyone can imagine. Not only are you teaching them, but they never stop teaching you. I'm glad you had such a wonderful holiday.
Love your post and picture of Greg! As a professor in special education I want my grad students to make sure the families that they work with hold such a vision for themselves. Family, love, acceptance, life. Thank you!

Oh I just love this. My Mother has always had the kids call her Grammie as well. She was a young Grandmother when I had my first born, I believe she was right at 39 and I remember she liked that better than Grandma (that made her feel old) lolol
Greg is just beaming with happiness! Love the pictures! And holy moly - I thought things were hectic over here - you win in that category! LOL! :) So glad you had a fun Christmas! :)
We have one more Christmas celebration to go on Saturday. I'm excited but a bit ready to be done celebrating.
He looks so happy in your pictures.
Hope your HOlidays are going good, Happy New Year, love your blog.
