Week #2 Eating Healthy and Working Out

How to start??!!! This week I didn't do as well as I did last week with eating healthy or working out. I only worked out with the Wii 2 times. I have no excuse .........just didn't! Eating I did OK. I had a few slip ups here and there. Well I did have a major major chocolate slip up big time on Wednesday. This week I have got to get serious and do what I know I am suppose to do. I can do it, I've done this before!! I don't know what to do first... it's never been this hard before. Should I just do one thing next week....like increase my workout, my water, or really watch my eating ( maybe do weight watchers points ) or should I try to do all 3. Yes!! that's what I will do...I will do all 3!!! According to my scale (who is trying to drive me crazy, I think) I lost 1 pound but if I get on it again then I lost 0 pounds and then when I get on it again I have gained. Maybe it's just time to get a new scale!!
I will do better next week!!!

Hi Gayle, from my weightwise program they say the best thing you can do is to journal....write down what you eat, what you drink, when you exercise, so that you can use it as a guide to what works. Maybe that will help. I think you look gorgeous in your picture already...but thats just me. good luck.

Watch what you eat and just exercise a bit more. STAY AWAY FROM THE SCALE! THE SCALE IS NOT YOUR FRIEND!

Plus or minus one pound is pretty normal. At least you don't get on the scale and see an extra five pounds.

water...water...water...eat right...exercise. and hide the scale for a couple weeks. smiles.

I'm the opposite. I did pretty good with the exercise buy my eating has been OUT OF CONTROL.

Better luck to both of us next week. We can do it!

One week is not bad. Just remind yourself there are four in the month and 52 in the year. No need to get discouraged!!

You will do fine this week. ONLY GET ON THAT SCALE ONCE A WEEK!!

Don't lose heart Gayle, you're doing just fine! I'll add my voice to the 'throw out the scale' crowd, remember that you'll lose inches as you build muscle and shed fat. Slow and steady will give the best long term results.

Definitely avoid the scale. But the three things do seem to go together...water, eating right, and exercising. My husband was once hypnotized with this message: "I am the sort of person who enjoys drinking vast quantities of water." It worked; he became an all-day water-drinker.

Don't weight yourself so often. It's a mental let down. And just make it a habit of working out more often. Commit to it.

P.S. We share the same affinity for chocolate.

just stick too it! everything is ok!! no need to get frustrated!! everyday is a new day...for a new opportunity ;)

Maybe you could make up a checklist? To remind yourself to do all of those things.

I don't even own a scale. How tight my pants are tells me if I need to lose weight.

I write down my work out for the week...what I plan to do each day. Then I cross things off after I do them.

I also try really really hard to eat healthy and avoid junk food 6 days a week. Friday is my eat whatever I want day.

Try to walk everyday. That is probably more important than any exercise. Then when you are ready add a day or two of working out a week.

If you try to do too much all at once, it's sometimes hard to keep up with it all. Take one step at a time and you will do just fine.

Hi Gayle! I will be starting my healthy eating next week. I will be with you in spirit. Hopefully the weather will stay nice so that I can get back into running.

Love the pic at the top. MORE WATER! Flush your body, woman!

Piano recital went great, btw. I'll post about it Wednesday.

Hmmm, it does sound like your scale has a few problems, LOL!

Gayle, get rid of the scale - muscle weighs more, you know:)

I finally made it to Bally's tonight after a long time away...

Only stand on your scale once a week. Journal EVERYTHING that goes into your mouth. DRINK your water.

And most importantly, RELAX.

I'm in agreement with the people saying less time on the scale might be the best idea, but then I haven't stepped on one since I was 14 and don't intend to again, so I am admittedly biased by very definite personal opinions about scales!

If you have a weakness for chocolate, I recommend Russell Stover sugar-free chocolates (not the boxed, they come in bags). They taste great and don't give you the sugar rush that stimulates your appetite. I often have one for desert and it is really helpful.

As long as you don't quit and keep trying, that will get results in the end!

Scales are evil. EVIL, I say!

Throw the scale out the window...that's what I did. Seriously, don't drive yourself nuts with the scale..I work hard at not weighing myself upstairs, then running downstairs to double check, then weighing myself with my patients at work....ugh....I have issues! But I think you are doing fine and just know that it's doesn't happen over night!

You can do it! Stay away from the scale, and rely on how your clothes fit. Really! PUT THE SCALE AWAY!

Don't beat yourself up, you doing something.

Fortunately we can reset our motivation each day when we wake up :)

I agree with the others - stay away from the scales! Good luck!

Don't be discouraged, the weight will come off, just give yourself time. Sue over at I Need Mom is working out on the Wii also and posted a great recipe for low-fat soup. Check her out at

Always nice to have a workout partner to keep you motivated!

I have really been messing up lately too! It is so hard to stay good, isn't it?

Take that scale and throw it as far as you can...or beat it with a hammer! Keep in mind that a couple of years ago I was a size 8 pushing a 10...now I'm a 4 and sometimes that's big on me...but I've only lost 9 pounds.

I dont know why everyone hates scales so much. Sheesh. I love mine! I weigh myself everyday. I think it helps to know if what you are doing is working or not.

We all deserve a chocolate slip up!

Don't be hard on yourself. Everyone falls short of something that we plan to do and don't do it. Today, I swore that I would clean up my home office; been saying it for weeks, and haven't done it yet. Like you, I have no excuse - just been enjoying other things.
We'll both do what we gotta do...eventually. :)

I reckon it gets harder and harder as we age... which kinda sucks!
Good luck for a better week.

i'm sure you ate better than i did--fast food is ever present in my house. so gross. usually, to lose weight, i have to do all three. it sucks.

I'm in a love/hate relationship with virtual memory because of the way prices are always, and I mean always dropping. I hate buying Micro SD Cards for my R4 / R4i at (seemingly) a crazy bargain price only to see it become a whole lot cheaper a couple of weeks later.
