Bryson ~ Surgery ~ Update

Bryson's surgery went well today!  When we left the hospital tonight he was resting and watching tv!  He still has the IV in his hand and a drain tube in his head. Hopefully it will all come out tomorrow.
Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers!  Please continue to pray for a speedy recovery for Bryson.  He really has been a brave little boy through all of this!

Bryson ~ Surgery ~ September 12, 2011

Bryson is having surgery on Monday, September 12th. to close part of his skull that did not close properly and by now should have after Craniosynostosis surgery in 2007.

Here is a little information about Craniosynostosis. Infants are born with skulls composed of six separate bone plates, separated by areas of soft fibrous tissue known as sutures. (The areas where sutures intersect are the fontanelles, often referred to as the “soft spots.”) Under normal circumstances, sutures expand through early childhood to allow the skull to accommodate the growing brain. The sutures then fuse at specific pre-programmed ages throughout the course of life, resulting in the round head shape we're accustomed to seeing. If, however, one or more of the sutures closes prematurely, craniosynostosis (abnormal growth and development of the skull) is the result.

Please Pray for Bryson, the doctor's and his momma and daddy!

Fun at the NC Museums

We are always trying to find new and fun things to do with our grandson.  Back in June we took him to the NC Museum of Life and Science and the History Museum.  It was educational as well as a fun way to spend the day with Bryson!
