They have been working with the bridge on our road that will cross over I-540 for several months. I can’t believe how fast they can build a bridge once the concrete cures in the abutment and center piers. Except for the side rails the bridge is finished and they are now starting to work on the road bed leading to the bridge. Here are some photos of how the bridge has progressed with time.

Lucky Gayle that she can sleep trhough all that. I'm so sorry you have all that gong on outside your door.
Oh I so understand how you feel...I hear everything too...while my Dear Hubbys sleeps sound....plus the snoring. LOL But will you be so thrilled when all the construction is done!
I think your wife has the best idea... sleep through it all!
We watched a huge motorway extention being built a few miles from our home... it was amazing really! Several HUGE bridges and lots more roading.... took 2.6 years!!!
I knew Gayle and I had a lot in common!
Once I actually fall asleep the world could come to an end and I'd never know.
My husband can sleep through anything except an earthquake.. Me I can sleep through anything except one of my kids moving around.. aka mom ears... The beep beep of backing up vehicles annoys me too!

Sounds like a tradeoff. Peace and quiet with no traffic (when the crews aren't there)versus the construction noise when they are there.
Ahhhh. What gets done (and put up with) in the name of "progress".
I feel for you...I wish I could sleep through anything as well. Hearing a gnat fart? Oh dear...that's just sad! :o)
If it's any consolation, my daughter has the super power hearing as well. It bugs her terribly. She can hear the high pitched noise a TV or stereo puts out even when shut off. In order for her to sleep, other sounds must be masked by "white noise".
My hubby and I would not be able to live through that. Noise factor is part of what helped us decide to move from San Diego. The number one requirement where we live is peace and quiet, as much as possible. I so feel for you.
Ugh. Sounds like a huge pain the rear. I'm a delicate sleeper, too. I don't know how I'd rest with all that noise.

If I remember correctly, this is going to make more noise/traffic in your "back yard" so to speak. I'm sure you haven't welcomed the progress as it has been happening. It does look like though that they are making good progress and are meeting their deadlines.

o man ... the first pic made me cringe ... here in vancouver there is one of those signs every second block ... ok ... maybe an exaggeration ... but there's one on every rout we take ... that's the truth :(
With so much work going on and the noise which comes with it can make anyone go crazy.
I definately couldn't sleep with all of that noise either! Hang in there. Hopefully it all goes away soon.

I am so sorry you all have to endure all that noise. My girls and I went through something similar when a FREEWAY was built behind our apartment.

I can sleep through traffic, but I doubt I could sleep through construction!
The birds wake me up in the morning so I'm fairly certain I could not sleep through this! You have my condolences.
It will be warm enough here for it all to begin - we have one highway that has been under construction for over ten years.

I've had a lot of bridge construction on my commutes in recent years, and it really is a marvel to see them go up, isn't it? I'm in awe of the engineering and coordination behind the efforts.
I'm with Gayle, too. I'm so desperate for sleep at the end of the day, that I guess I just will myself to fall asleep right away. With the exception of a possible trip to the toilet in the middle of the night (I try not to open my eyes - women can do that), I mostly sleep all night.
My husband is amazed too. :)
